Before buying a portable panel, identify the exact equipment it will charge. Record the make, model and manual for the power station or battery system.
Match the electrical requirements
Ask the manufacturers to confirm the panel specifications against the receiving equipment’s permitted input range and limits. Include the open-circuit voltage and intended number and arrangement of panels. Do not assume an adapter solves an electrical mismatch.
Confirm charging regulation
Check whether the receiving equipment provides the required regulation or a separate controller is necessary. Use the manufacturer-approved charging arrangement for the battery chemistry.
List every connection
Confirm connectors, polarity, cable length, current capacity and included adapters. Obtain written confirmation for the exact combination.
Plan for conditions
Rated output is measured under defined test conditions; field output varies. Ask about expected conditions, weather limits, placement and storage. Avoid a fixed charging-time promise based only on the panel’s rated wattage.
Compare the complete delivered cost
Include the panel, required controller or adapters, cables, shipping and return obligations.
PowerFilm’s manufacturer FAQ explains electrical matching, controller pairing, cable limits and rated versus field output. The manual for each receiving model remains essential; this checklist does not approve a particular connection.
